A browser extension that hides ads from brands owned by American companies. Free. No account. Nothing sold.
The Chrome build is the same build that runs in Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi and Arc. Firefox needs its own build because it is a different engine.
It reads the advertiser behind each ad, works out who ultimately owns that brand, and hides the ad if the owner is American. Everything else on the page is left where it is.
The ad still loads before it is hidden. That is on purpose. The American advertiser pays for a view nobody saw.
How it decides
The brand list is built away from your browser, from three public registries.
- WikidataRead for the parent company field.
- GLEIFThe global register of legal entities, read for where the entity is incorporated.
- SEC EDGARFilings with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.
A brand is marked American only when at least two of the three answer and every registry that answered names the United States. If they disagree, or if fewer than two can answer, the ad stays.
A small number are settled by hand, where a person read the public filings. Those are labelled.
The test is who owns the brand today, not where it started. A Canadian name owned out of Ohio is an American brand.

Wrong call
Click the leaf on any hidden ad and it names the brand, the owner and the records behind the call. If we have one wrong, allow it in one click and it stays visible everywhere from then on. Mail hello@tariffed.ca so we fix it for everyone.
Privacy
No server. No account. No network call while it runs. The brand list ships inside the extension. Nothing about the pages you visit leaves your computer.
