Tariffed

A Section 338 proclamation took effect 22 August 2026

A 50% duty now lands on 554 tariff codes of Canadian goods. CUSMA does not stop it.

Send me your inventory export, from a Shopify admin or a spreadsheet. I match every HS code in it against the list US Customs published, and I tell you which of your products the extra 50% now hits.

The duty is charged on the entry date, not the ship date, so a parcel already in transit can land inside it. The covered list runs to 58 tariff chapters. Apparel, cosmetics, furniture, jewellery, toys, wood goods and paper goods sit in it alongside the dairy and alcohol the news reported.

Do your products already carry HS codes?

No charge today, and no files in the first reply. You write to me first, so I may write back. Ask me to stop and I stop.

Your email and your store address go to me and to my own notification channel. I do not sell them, share them with anyone else, or add you to a list. Any export you later send me is deleted once the report reaches you. Write to hello@tariffed.ca and I delete what I hold.

How it works

I read the codes you already have.

There is no software to install and no account to create. US Customs published the covered goods as a list of eight-digit tariff codes in CSMS 69606660. Your own inventory file already carries an HS code and a country of origin on most products. The work is putting one against the other.

01

You send the inventory export

Any file with a tariff code and a country of origin per product works. In Shopify it is Products, then Inventory, then Export. Send the price list too and your own price sits beside each code. Redact supplier names if you want to.

02

I match every code

Your codes go against the government list, and against the two subheadings that pull goods back off it. Steel, wood and vehicles come off, because a separate duty already covers them. The list runs to eight digits and most stores hold six. Where your six digits cover a taxed code and an untaxed one, the product comes back as Review. I will not pick the eighth digit for you.

03

You get the exposure list

Every product whose code lands on the list, every product whose origin field is blank, and every product the six digits cannot settle. Your listed price sits in the next column so you can see the size of what is exposed. Your broker works out the money.

Limits

A reading of your own file, and nothing more.

I am testing whether merchants want this at all before I build anything. Tariffed is not a customs broker and this is not a classification opinion. I do not assign HS codes, decide where a product was made, file or amend entries, or tell you what duty you owe. I read the codes you have already entered and say where they land on a published government list. Your licensed customs broker stays responsible for what goes on an entry.

  • Canadian merchant shipping physical goods to United States buyers
  • An online store or a spreadsheet, with HS codes filled in on most products
  • Willing to export that file and send it to a stranger
  • Enough US volume that a 50% duty changes what you charge
